Hullo!

Untitled - 30 June 2026 at 20.12.01.png

Hullo, Folks. My name is Keep. I came to these woods many years ago and noticed a funny little derelict house with a round tower. I bought it, got it looking ship-shape, but all the while wasn't aware of the resident horde of mischievous sprites who call themselves the Flitwizzits - they live up in the rafters of the tower.

Yes i'm a bear, albeit a well-dressed one. How old am I? (Scratches head) in truth I haven't a clue so let's just say 'old'.  Not too old, mind.

If you find some of the words I use baffling then don't be afeared. I do too and that's why I use them. You see, I've always loved learning new things, as long as those things are intriguing and I'm not having to sit in a classroom looking at a board for hours on-end. And indeed feeling bored.

I love this quote by Confucius;
"Ask a question and feel a fool for a minute, or don't ask and be a fool for life."
Well I'm tired of feeling confusticated - I want to be engaged with etymology, astonished by astounding facts, enwisened about the world, speechless at, well, you get the point.

aka my home

My office / workshop sits high up in the tower. Not that I'm at all afraid of heights, but I did once drop a pencil to see how long it would take to hit the ground. 14 months. Mostly due to the fact it got caught halfway down in a spider's web. Ahem.

Nice pile of bricks, eh?

I love my garden; it covers an area of almost an acre and includes an old Victorian kitchen garden, with high garden walls where fruit trees were grown in an espalier-fashion. There's also a quite brilliant orangery / greenhouse that I'm meaning to clear out next year.
